Sharp-tailed Sandpiper (Calidris acuminata)

The following is a photograph of a Sharp-tailed Sandpiper banded at Broome in September 1992.

They strongly prefer fresh water wetlands where sometimes they can be seen in thousands (e.g. Lake McLarty) but I have seen a few in salt water habitats on the beach at Broome, 80 Mile Beach, at Alfred Cove and Oyster Harbour.
