Red-tailed Black-Cockatoo (Calyptorhynchus banksii)
The following is a photograph of a Red-tailed Black-Cockatoo feeding in a marri tree at the Wungong Gorge car park in October 1998, and of two sitting on a fence above a water trough south of Armidale in December 2001.

There are three races of Red-tailed Black-Cockatoos in Western Australia. The northern race is very common. The race in the wheatbelt is fairly common. The south west race is restricted to the marri / jarrah forest and is threatened. It is most commonly found in the wetter forests.
