Broad-billed Sandpiper (Limicola falcinellus)

The following are some photographs of a Broad-billed Sandpiper banded at Broome in September 1992.

This is one of the harder migratory waders to find in Australia.  They can nearly always be found in small numbers in Roebuck Bay at Broome, but Port Hedland (especially the salt works) is the place to see 1,000 or more in the wet season.  A few are seen in estuaries in the south west during summer.
